Halo Infinite - Preview of the new chapter of the 343 Industries series

E3 2019 has been over for a couple of weeks now and, despite the conference Microsoft products was not as brilliant as everyone expected, a game has certainly caught the attention of all gamers: we are talking about Halo Infinite, work produced by 343 Industries and initially shown during the last E3. The trailer presented during the last Los Angeles fair, however, had something different from its predecessor: in fact this time the video was not a pure demonstration of the power of the graphic engine SlipSpace, but a small (but not too much) extrapolation of the initial movie of the work, which of course we will review in an improved version at the debut of Halo Infinite on the market. While this trailer doesn't show us gameplay scenes, it does give us the chance to find out more about this title and place it in the vast timeline of the entire series. In the following lines we will therefore analyze all the information revealed to us in this video. Please, hold on tight, let's go!Halo Infinite - Preview of the new chapter of the 343 Industries series

Halo Infinite timeline and hidden information

As announced during E3 2019 by Chris Lee, head of studio FPS at 343 Industries, Infinite will take place after the events of Halo 5: Guardians and therefore there will be a direct connection with the events we have already experienced in the past. However, it is worth remembering that despite the introduction of new important and interesting characters, the real protagonist will once again be Master Chief.

By analyzing the trailer in depth, it is possible to note that the story told in Halo Infinite will be placed temporally after about 3 years the events that occurred in Guardians and at least 16 months after what was seen in the E3 2018 trailer. Paying a little attention to the writings that pass quickly in the Master Chief's viewer, we can also realize that the suit was created on February 10, 2559, but was later modified by Catherine Halsey, mother of the Spartan program, whom Master Chief meets at the end of Guardians, September 19, 2561. This, in addition to confirming that the story is set about 3 years after the conclusion of Halo 5, leaves us to understand that Halsey is not dead and that we are likely to meet her again in this new chapter of the series.Halo Infinite - Preview of the new chapter of the 343 Industries series

As previously stated by Chris Lee, Halo Infinite will also introduce major new characters, and one of them has already been shown to us in the latest trailer. It is precisely the pilot of the semi-destroyed Pelican who wanders in space and finds the Master Chief. The software house has not yet wanted to reveal anything about this supporting actor, but it is easy to understand that it is a "Chekhov gun" in the hands of the developers and that therefore, as such, will play a fundamental role within the story being told.

The spiritual reboot of the series

As confirmed by 343 Industries, Halo Infinite wants to offer itself as a spiritual reboot of the entire series thus leaving a wide gateway to all those players who have never approached this game or who have lost some chapters of the saga over the years. The company it will in fact introduce a lot of information on the previous chapters within this new work (it is not yet clear to us whether through cutscenes or through different gimmicks, such as data pads) contextualizing and creating a broad general framework that will allow all gamers to fully enjoy Halo Infinite. 343 Industries doesn't want to limit itself to creating a sequel, but wants to produce a new starting point, (exactly as Microsoft wants to do with Xbox Scarlett) with which to relaunch this brand again. The whole story told in this new work yes this time he will focus on emotions and on the human aspect of the events told and the software house will use the new supporting actors, such as the pilot seen in the trailer, as a means to achieve this goal. Furthermore, thanks to the potential of the new SlipSpace engine, new technologies and tools will be introduced that will allow the player to identify even more within the story.Halo Infinite - Preview of the new chapter of the 343 Industries series

However, nothing is better than a good soundtrack to focus the audience's attention and to convey emotions. Precisely for this reason, the audio sector will be supervised Joel Yarger, famous for having edited the soundtracks of famous titles such as God of War, Marvel Spider-Man and Uncharted 4, in collaboration with Sotaro 'Tajeen' Tojima, famous Japanese composer who has behind him musical productions such as those present in Metal Gear 4 and Halo 4.

Our expectations

It goes without saying that we really expect a lot from Halo Infinite. 343 Industries has all the credentials to produce an emotionally charged and immersive FPS in history as well as in combat. The choice to launch several betas before the official publication of the game will allow the software house to listen to the feedback of the most experienced players, correcting and improving the combat phases with the possibility of making it completely satisfying. The company's willingness to include a wider audience, not just limited to veterans of the series, is certainly commendable and could prove to be a winning move for both the game and the new Microsoft console that will be sold in a bundle with this work. So we just have to wait for the smoky launch window, scheduled for autumn 2020, to find out if all our expectations will be satisfied.
