Speaking of which, you managed to take screenshots but, now, you have no idea where they are to be able to recover them.

Windows

How to see Minecraft screenshots

If you are playing Minecraft Java Edition on your PC Windows, to take a screenshot, simply press the key F2 on the keyboard during the game session. This will save a snapshot of the game screen in PNG and stored in a folder on your computer.



To access that folder, you need to open theFile Explorer (the'folder icon on the taskbar) of Windows and reach the path %appdata%.minecraft (you can copy and paste this string in the screen bar File Explorer). Alternatively, you can follow the path C:Users[your username]AppDataRoaming.minecraft.


At this point, browse for the folder Screenshots and double-click it, to view all the screenshots saved on your computer.

Mac

How to see Minecraft screenshots

If you own a Mac, you can see the screenshots taken in Minecraft Java Edition in a simple way like the one seen in the previous chapter dedicated to Windows. First, you need to know that screenshots on this edition of Minecraft can be taken via key combination fn+F2 of the keyboard.

Once this is done, all you have to do is open the Finder of macOS (the smiling face on the Dock bar) and navigate to ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft. If you don't know how to do it, you can also do it right click on the Finder icon, select the item Go to the folder from the menu that opens and paste the path indicated above in the box that is proposed to you.

After opening the Minecraft installation folder, locate the one named Screenshots and double click on it, to view the captured screens.

Linux

How to see Minecraft screenshots

Minecraft Java Edition is also available on Linux. If you want to take a screenshot, just press the key F2 on the keyboard. To recover the image you just saved, you need to open the Minecraft installation folder instead.



To do this, launch the File Manager that you use, navigate to the path ~/.minecraft and then double click on the folder Screenshots, so you can access game screenshots captured during your Minecraft sessions.

How to see Minecraft Bedrock Edition screenshots

If you own Minecraft Bedrock Edition, you can easily see the captured screenshots by following the instructions that I will give you in the next chapters.



Windows 10 and later

How to see Minecraft screenshots

Through the version of Minecraft per Windows 10 and later, available on the Microsoft Store, you can take screenshots using the Gamebar, accessible via the key combination Windows + G: then click oncapture icon to capture the screen.

Once this is done, what you have to do is recover the screenshot you just took: open theFile Explorer Windows (the yellow folder that you find on the taskbar) and access the path C:Users[your username]Videos and then double-click on the folder Acquisitions, where you will find all screenshots of Minecraft.

Smartphones and tablets

How to see Minecraft screenshots

The Minecraft app for Android and iOS/iPadOS doesn't have a native feature to take screenshots like it does on PC.

What you need to do, therefore, is to use the key combinations of Android and iPhone/iPad to capture the screen of the device (usually Power+Volume Down your android e Power + Volume Up on iPhone, as explained in my tutorial dedicated to the subject).

That said, after taking the screenshot, to view it on Android you need to start the app Gallery o Google Photos and tap on the album dedicated to Screenshots. On iOS / iPadOSInstead, you have to launch the app Photo and press on the album Screen snapshots.


This is the list of all the screenshots taken on the phone / tablet over time, including those of Minecraft.

Game console

If you play Minecraft on console, for example PlayStation, Xbox e Switch, you can use the built-in features of the latter to take screenshots: on PS4 e PS5, for example, you have to press the key Share on the controller and select the option to take screenshots; on family consoles Xbox you have to press the key twice Xbox of the controller and then the button Y; on Nintendo Switchinstead, you have to press the key Capture on the controller.


That said, once you have taken the screenshot, you can easily recover it by accessing the game console's media gallery: on PS4 / PS5, then access the folder Collection from the main screen and open the application with the Capture gallery; on Xboxinstead, you have to press the key Xbox of the pad, move to the tab Broadcast and capture and select the item relating to recent acquisitions; on Nintendo Switchinstead, you have to launch the application Album and you will find all your screenshots there.

In all cases, in addition to viewing them, you can also share your screenshots on the social channels associated with the console.
