How to transform into Vampires

The Elder Scrolls Online also provides the opportunity to transform into thirsty bloodsuckers and become true vampires. In this guide we see how to do it and what are the pros and cons that the porphyria disease brings with it.

There are two ways to become a vampire:

1) Areas of infection
Vampires can be found in the advanced level areas of Tamriel's world. Keep your eyes peeled and look for special areas such as caves / dungeons that feature the crescent moon symbol. Vampires gather in these areas and if you are attacked / bitten you will contract the disease. At this point a new quest will be activated in your journal called "Scion of the Blood Matroon". Complete this mission to be able to decide whether to become a full-fledged vampire or cure the disease. (more details on the cure in the guide explaining how to cure vampirism).

2) Infection from other players
If you meet another player who has already become a vampire, you could be bitten and thus get the disease. Between one bite and the next, however, a timer is activated that allows 7 days to pass.

Advantages and disadvantages of vampirism

As a Vampire, you will receive a new skill line in the "World Skills" menu. The character will begin to undergo the 4 stages of the disease, each with its own upgrades and handicaps. Here they are below.

Stage 1 (30 min): + 50% vulnerability to fire
Stage 2 (60 min): + 50% vulnerability to fire / -20% health regeneration / -20% life cost in Vampire skills
Stage 3 (90 min): + 50% vulnerability to fire / -50% health regeneration / -40% life cost in Vampire skills
Stage 4 (+90 min): + 50% vulnerability to fire / -75% health regeneration / -60% life cost in Vampire skills

As you can see, greater vulnerability to fire remains at all stages of the disease. Furthermore, by using the Vampire abilities, you will not consume magika but directly life. At first glance it may seem very inconvenient, but it must be considered that very powerful abilities such as "Nightblade" (invisibility) and Dark Stalker are acquired.
