2020 will be theyear of the ninth generation of videogames. The last two generations, the one we are currently experiencing and the previous one, have given us great emotions thanks to incredible titles and undisputed masterpieces. They were ten memorable years… But things don't always go as planned. The world is not only made up of masterpieces, but also of projects that ended badly for reasons of budget or creative discrepancies, of games that went out of time or of embarrassing titles and that's it. So let's find out together then what are the worst games released in the last ten years!

Resident Evil 6
Today the saga of resident evil is experiencing a second youth, among the surprising Resident Evil VII, the incredible remake of the second chapter and the remake of the third that will be released next year. But there was a time when there seemed to be no hope for the famous horror saga created by Capcom. This sixth chapter specifically seemed more of a bad one GearsLike than a canonical chapter of the series. Even the two Revelations they managed to do better than that, in terms of gameplay and atmosphere. Over-the-top characters (Chris Redfield reaches awkward trash levels), zombies returning fire from behind cover. In short, a disaster, and it is not even the only one (or the last) of the bipolar Capcom saga.
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII
The games related to Final Fantasy XIII have made fans argue a lot over the years, between who liked them and who hated them. On one thing, however, they all agree: Lightning returns it's really terrible. It almost felt like that Square was making fun of his fans. Were they complaining about too linear gameplay? Well then let's do a whole Final Fantasy with the time restriction. If that's not enough, the plot, settings and characters are really at an all-time low for the Final Fantasy saga, a sign of how not even Square Enix believed so much in this third chapter dedicated to the controversial character of Lightning. Bad way to say goodbye to the universe of Fabula Nova Crystallis.
Umbrella Corps
As already mentioned for Resident Evil 6, there was a really dark period for the saga of Capcom, and in this scenario a title like Umbrella Corps it certainly didn't help. You know the problem behind Metal Gear Surive, or the heavy inheritance he carried on his shoulders? Well, here everything is amplified to the nth degree, because if at least the title of Konami he had some interesting ideas and a not bad play structure, Umbrella Corps is just ugly. It has nothing to do with the rest of the saga, it is based on a bare and boring multiplayer and lacks a single campaign (apart from the terrible missions that serve as tutorials). Hopefully Capcom do not fall back on it, even if doing worse than that is really difficult.
Silent Hill: Downpour
Silent Hill it's one of those dead streaks without a reason. Or rather, we know why, but it is not clear how this collapse came about with such power. Homecoming had already cast a bad light on the series, but Downpour he even managed to do worse. The fights were really frustrating and the narrative was far too superficial, far from the standards that the series had accustomed us to. A light had been seen at the end of the tunnel which took the name of Silent Hills, but the disputes between Kojima e Konami they put an end to this saga. Even if some rumors in the last few days have rekindled the alarm bell, we will hardly see a new chapter of Silent Hill, and knowing that this could really be the last chapter of the series makes it even sadder.
WWE 2K20
A bug with a game inside. I know it may seem trivial, but this videogame massacre cannot be defined in any other way. Memories of such masterpieces like Lord Comes The Pain o SmackDown vs Raw 2006 are far away, and the small steps taken with WWE 2K19 have already disappeared. Ok the production problems, but selling a game in these conditions is really unacceptable. Hoping this disaster will serve as a lesson to 2K, even if that means the series' death.
The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct
The potential was there, given some interesting ideas behind the gameplay, too bad for the bad realization of the whole. The survival approach was excellent as a concept, but due to obvious budget constraints, everything went down the drain. A technical sector that is at least one generation old, a short and not at all memorable campaign and not in-depth mechanics have made this title a great wasted opportunity. The only positive note are the original items by Reedus e Rooker.
Sonic Boom
The saga dedicated to the blue porcupine is probably even more schizophrenic than that of Resident Evil. We have seen Sonic becoming a werewolf, falling in love with princesses and other bad ideas that had little or nothing to do with Sonic. But Sonic Boom: The Rise of Lyric has exceeded all possible negative expectations. The license plate title BigRedButton it is lacking in all respects, from ridiculous gameplay to problem-ridden technical implementation. A series of wrong choices that have decreed the artistic failure of the title and put poor Sonic in even more bad light. Hoping that the film with Jim Carrey does not put a definitive tombstone on the brand, we can enjoy a good recovery with Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces.
Postal 3
Postal 3 it is the classic example of a game that tries to deal with various issues, from sexually transmitted diseases to social integration, in the most politically incorrect way possible. In this there is really nothing wrong, indeed (even if the type of irony reaches levels of embarrassment and annoyance not just). The real problem with the title in question is that, in addition to being deliberately incorrect, it has nothing. Bad on the technical side, at the level of gameplay mechanics is nothing. Not to mention the practically non-existent Artificial Intelligence. Do you want to produce politically incorrect games? No problem… but at least develop some decent games.
Duke Nukem Forever
I will tell you, whoever writes this article did not hate Duke Nukem Forever, rather. But analyzing the game objectively, one cannot but define this operation as a real disaster. After 15 years of development what we found in our hands is a game that simply came out of the time limit, with the irony at the base that, if it had been released in this historical period, it would surely have led to media wars regarding machismo. Arrived too late to be fully appreciated and too early to cause a stir, Duke Nukem Forever came out at the wrong time, and the bad technical and artistic sector certainly did not help the title. It was still nice to see (perhaps for the last time) the duke in action.
Ride to Hell: Retribution
There is very little to say about this game. Basically it is a title that includes various videogame genres, that is sections riding on your motorcycle, quick time event, beat 'em up sections, third-person shooter, vehicle customization and management phases. Saying it like this it would seem to be the best video game ever created, too bad that every single element was developed with the feet. Nothing works in this title, not even the "hot" scenes. In some phases our protagonist will have sexual relations with some damsels, too bad that these more than sensual scenes are (involuntarily) hilarious, since the two will copulate with all the clothes on! Originally, the game was announced in 2008 and then canceled in 2009. Later the project was taken over by the guys from Eutechnyx and published in 2013. One of those cases in which it is better to let a project die.
Rambo: The Videogame
Rambo is an icon of the 80s action genre but, even if the premises were there, he never managed to have a videogame transposition up to it. This Rambo: The Videogame it is no exception and indeed, it is to all intents and purposes the worst videogame of the various Rambo-themed developments. A shooter on the tracks (where it is not possible to use a lightgun, madness!) That retraced the vicissitudes of John Rambo it could also have been an interesting idea, too bad the realization is atrocious. The graphics sector is bad, the feeling with the weapons is bad, the audio sector is also bad. Probably the developers had spent so much money licensing Rambo's films that, when they found themselves broke, they couldn't do better.
Alien: Colonial Marines
Misleading advertising. Here is the perfect description of this scam commercial operation. Because this game has nothing seen in the various presentation trailers, neither in the gameplay nor in the technical sector. Accomplice a troubled development, Alien: Colonial Marines is a videogame made with carelessness in practically all of its departments. Graphically it is nothing special and has several bugs, the plot is really uninteresting, and the xenomorphs they will not be the real enemies of the adventure except for a few short sections. Unexplainable how this game was a commercial success in the UK (ranking first in total sales). If you are looking for a nice video game set in the Alien universe try it Insulation, which really deserves.
The Quiet Man
A title so bad that it goes around and becomes beautiful. The Quiet Man has an interesting idea based, too bad it has been thrown to the winds. The protagonist is a deaf boy whose handicap is an integral part of the narrative. If he doesn't hear, then you don't hear either. As mentioned, the idea was interesting and innovative but once again the realization was disastrous, sometimes comical. The game is divided into (endless) movies with real actors and gameplay phases similar to a scrolling fighting game. The problem behind this video game is that everything is done badly and with carelessness. The cutscenes are badly acted and totally void of audio (so you will not understand anything of the plot) and the combat phases are uninspired and poorly made, with ridiculous animations and omnipresent bugs. The final joke is being able to replay the adventure once the experience is over, but with the ability to activate the audio. And what's even more beautiful is that the plot, once the game is finished for the second time, will continue to make no sense. If you have money to burn, play it with some friends by your side, just to have a laugh. Because it's really hard to make a bad movie and game in one go, but the developers have succeeded. Sad to think that this title was produced there Square-Enix.
Agony
Also in this case we are talking about a game financed through a campaign kikstarter and once again we are talking about unfulfilled expectations. Agony is a game perfectly summed up by its own title. A title where nothing works, from the aberrant graphics sector to a monotonous gameplay. The environments, initially gloomy, gradually become simply dark in an artificial way (and uncomfortable for exploration). The basic idea was intriguing, to immerse the player in a hell of flesh, bone and sex, but the realization is embarrassing. Art design is there, everything else is missing.
Fallout 76
It's certainly not the ugliest game on this list, but Fallout 76 it is certainly the most offensive title. At launch the game appeared to have been developed in a lazy way, with an Engine that was at least ten years old, assets reused from previous works by Bethesda and a devastating bug presence. In addition to this, we had a distorted gameplay in our hands compared to the previous chapters of the saga. No NPCs, no dialogue possibilities, and an inconsistent storyline. The only aspect that could have saved Fallout 76, or the online Multiplayer sector, is almost a forced and useless addition. On top of that, to make matters worse, Bethesda's behavior towards its customers has been nothing short of unacceptable. It matters little that they are (in part) redeemed with subsequent updates. We are not Beta-Tester, and it is time for the various companies to understand this reality.
