Magic: The Gathering, a card will have to change its name

Wizard of the Coast announced that he will rename his card on Thursday Spacegodzilla, Death Corona for the famous card game Magic: The Gathering, due to the controversial situation that could be created due to the pandemic in progress which occurred precisely because of the Coronavirus. Although the cards have already been printed, the company has made it known that there will be timely changes, saying it will remove or change the card where possible. This will be contained within the new set, called Ikoria: Lair of the Behemoths. The new name for the card will be “Spacegodzilla, Void Invader”. This is what you can read on their official website:

Months ago, when Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths was over, the world was in a completely different place. Just as we have all adapted to an altered world due to the spread of COVID-19, the word "crown" has a whole new meaning.

In context, the card we wanted to show was conceived on the basis of the "Corona Beam", the typical attack of Godzilla.

The company has announced that it will also change the way it launches its cards, due to the ongoing pandemic. The new set, in fact, will not require typical in-store events, and will always have a pre-release weekend.

We remind you that the very famous trading card game Magic: The Gathering is currently also available in its digital version, Magic: The Gathering Arena, of which you can read our review.
