My Samsung Galaxy A50 is frozen. Here's how to unlock it.

When a smartphone like the Samsung Galaxy A50 freezes on a certain page, you can always expect it to be a problem with the firmware, unless you see some obvious signs of physical or liquid damage. 

In my experience, however, a frozen device is always a firmware issue and while it is a very annoying issue, you can actually fix it yourself without having to take your phone to a store. 

In this post, I will guide you on how to fix a stuck Galaxy A50 so that you can use it again. Regardless of whether it's stuck while using it or on a black screen, only one solution needs to be used. 

So, if you are one of the owners of this device and are experiencing the same problem then read on as this post may be able to help you one way or another. 

Unlock a locked Galaxy A50

As I said before, you just need a solution to get your frozen Galaxy A50 to respond again and that's what I'm going to show you here. But first, make sure your phone has no signs of physical or liquid damage because, if so, you need to take it to the store so a technician can check it.

But assuming the physical state of the phone is still good, then here's what you should do: 

First solution: perform a forced reboot

When it comes to frozen gadgets and all the other minor firmware issues, a forced restart is the most effective solution.

It's a simulated battery removal that updates the phone's memory, reloads all its apps and services, and forces the device to restart even if it's locked and regardless of whether it's stuck on a black screen or an app. Here's how to do it: 

1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don't release it yet. 
2. While holding down the volume button, also press and hold the power key. 
3. Press and hold both keys together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A50 logo appears on the screen.

If you managed to get your phone to respond just by doing this, the problem is already solved at this point, although there is no guarantee that the problem will not recur in the future. But if your Galaxy A50 is still stuck after doing the procedure for the first time, then try to do it a few more times before moving on to the next solution. 

Second solution: charge Galaxy A50 and force restart

If your phone is stuck on a certain screen while you are using it, the first procedure will definitely fix it. However, if it's on a black screen and unresponsive no matter what you do, it's possible that it's just a low battery issue. 

Your Galaxy A50 may have run out of power and the firmware may have crashed just before it shuts down due to insufficient power. To fix this, here's what you should do: 

1. Plug the charger into a working wall outlet. 
2. Using the original cable, connect your phone to the charger. 
3. Regardless of whether your phone shows the charging symbol or not, leave it connected to the charger for at least 10 minutes. 
4. After that and while the phone is still connected to the charger, press and hold the Volume Down button and don't release it yet. 
5. While holding down the volume button, also press and hold the power key. 
6. Press and hold both keys together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A50 logo appears on the screen.

This is just a pretty small problem, and you can definitely fix it by doing these procedures as long as it's not a problem with the hardware. But if your phone is still frozen on a black screen even after this then it is time for you to take it to the store so that a technician can check it for you. 

However, if you were able to successfully boot your phone after doing one of the procedures, but the problem occurs from time to time, you need to reset your phone to start over. This should fix the problem and you can continue to use your device without any problems. 

Before the reset, however, be sure to make a copy of your important files and data. Next, remove your Google account from your phone so that you are not locked out, then follow these steps to reset your phone: 

1. Turn off the device.
2. Keep the keys pressed Volume up e Switching .
3. When the Galaxy A50 logo appears, release all three keys.
4. Your Galaxy A50 will continue to boot into recovery mode. When a black screen with blue and yellow texts appears, proceed to the next step. 
5. Press the key several times Volume down to highlight “wipe data / factory reset”.
6. Press the Power button to select.
7. Press the button Volume down until “Yes” is highlighted.
8. Press the Power button to select and start the master reset.
9. When the master reset is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
10. Press the power button to restart the device.
