The various upgrades of Mario are added to the package, and its further possibilities that the game grants to the user slowly, making sure to explain everything in detail and avoiding confusion in every possible way.

In all this, Digital Illusions has patented a completely interconnected game map, which does not tend to lead to the various areas through rapid movements alone, but uses many tricks to allow the player to move from one area to another effortlessly, with a perennial solution of continuity. We are therefore not faced with the classic single levels of the series, but a an open map which closely resembles the work done for the various chapters of Resident Evil, almost always praised for their painstaking level design.

The paths are certainly not boring, since it is impossible not to meet a million variables and collectibles that color the experience. Analyzing the image on the screen it is always possible to notice a detail that has escaped us, whether it is a Toad to save or a road that we have not yet traveled. Furthermore, the play system is always alternated with very different sequences, which offer enough variety to not make the playful formula stale in the long run. The game world can be defined as a continuous puzzle to be solved, while continuing in the main plot which fortunately does not go into the background.
