PlayStation 5: Sony ready to acquire new development teams

In a recent official financial report, Sony Interactive Entertainment said she was determined to acquire new development teams in order to expand the brand PlayStation Studios. Sony has certainly made exclusives its trademark and, according to this desire to acquire new studios, it seems that this policy will continue on PlayStation 5. In this financial report let's read:

First party games, developed and sold by a platform owner, are particularly important IPs for those who want to create valuable content and increase their future earnings. In addition to improving the working environment of its studios, Sony Interactive Entertainment aims to continue its investment and acquisition activities of highly creative companies that can also boast of cutting-edge technologies.

Among the development teams acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment we find Bend Studio, N, Guerrilla Games, Media Molecule, Sucker Punch Productions e Insomniac Games. the latter purchased by Sony in 2019 after the great success of Marvel's Spider-Man. However, in addition to study first parties, as can always be seen from the report, it seems that Sony also wants to aim at third-party titles:

Third-party titles also play a major role in indirectly enhancing the attractiveness of the PlayStation platform. Sony offers numerous forms of assistance to external companies, such as sharing their libraries and accessing their technical support to videogame content creators, in order to improve and simplify the development environment as much as possible.

We remind you that PlayStation 5 is scheduled for the end of the year, to coincide with the start of the holidays. Currently the only exclusive title that will accompany the next generation console will be Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, although it has recently been specified that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart should come out close to the launch of the new Sony platform.
