Much to the surprise, the team of Milestone has decided to dedicate a large workspace to the creation of a fourth installment of the much acclaimed RIDE motorcycle series. This latest series has managed to depopulate in its sector especially in recent years, decreeing incredible successes for the company that has put its hands behind the scenes. So we got to try LAUGH 4 and we can affirm that it is without any doubt a revolutionary experience, with many appealing characteristics MotoGP 20, title coming from the same development team but characterized by very different playful characteristics, even if the subject is always and in any case that of motorcycles.

A big step forward

Let's start by saying that RIDE 4 is a title that fans of the world of two wheels will surely appreciate, since - unlike its predecessor - it sports a great attention to every little detail, especially when it comes to the technical parts of the motorcycle and the noise produced by its engine. This was also made possible thanks to advanced scanning technologies based on real motorbikes, which Milestone wanted to use for the realization of its 3D models, and to the capture of multiple types of sounds, which guarantees an extreme variety in this sense. Nothing to take away from the tracks and game scenarios, which are also faithfully reproduced and with a general quality even higher than usual: they are present well 30 tracks and different road routes, which can be traveled with more than 175 types of motorcycles!

A big step forward has been made in terms of physics of the game, now much improved and advanced like never before. Some fundamental parameters, such as the mass of the motorcycle and weather, insistently influence the holding of the vehicle on the asphalt, with an even higher challenge for the player. This requires more attention from the rider, however experience aims to simplify most of its mechanics thanks to a input delay which this time has been reduced to a minimum, allowing more accurate control of the bike to the person behind the screen. In addition to this, an important addition to the series, also present in MotoGP 20, is the tire wear, influenced by your driving style, weather conditions and your decisions in terms of rubber hardness, which can vary from soft, half e hard (for example, if the asphalt temperature is high, it is better to opt for the latter type). It is also interesting to note the addition of the dynamic weather which perfectly simulates the randomness of precipitation, which varies even during the course of a race!

ANNA makes her debut in RIDE 4!

The already known is revolutionary artificial intelligence system ANNA enters the series for the first time, guaranteeing a level of challenge on RIDE 4 never seen before; thanks to the latter we can in fact say goodbye to the senseless actions that previously often occurred in the behavior of other NPCs. It's about a artificial neural network based on machine learning, although logically the difficulty is adjustable according to our tastes and our demands in terms of competition. To accentuate the realism present in the title are the data present on the dashboard, always updated and real based on the behavior of your bike: a small detail that is often noticed even by those who do not pay attention to the little things. As for the game controls, as usual for the titles of this team they turned out to be simple and intuitive.

But now, let's move on to one of the most important, if not the most important, aspects of production: the playable modes. The workhorse of RIDE 4 this year is certainly his innovative Career mode, which gives a free choice to the user on duty with respect to the selection of the paths of the american league, European o Asian. A peculiarity capable of rewarding a lot of satisfaction along the course of history to the player is summed up in the fact that one's results influence the general experience: for example, getting noticed by a specific producer and obtaining additional prizes by competing for him! Besides that, there is also a new and fun one Endurance mode, in which it is possible to compete with a new category of motorcycles and in which it is necessary to pay some attention to the strategy to be adopted in the race. Basically, our eye will be directed more on fuel and tire consumption during the race than on anything else; in i pit stop in fact, we have to choose what to replace, logically using our heads and trying to stop as short as possible so as not to waste any more time.

We also dedicate a noteworthy mirror to the whole customization system, which offers a great selection on the aesthetics of the motorcycle, of its motorcycle uniform and of its helmet, with a special editor which allows the user to vent their creativity in many ways. Nothing to take away from the mechanical modifications that can be made on the vehicle, which can affect, for example, the set-up of the bike: these are much more fundamental as they will affect our races and speeding on the track in a not insignificant way.
