THEE3 2018 is approaching, which is why we in the editorial team have decided to tackle the various conferences individually, telling you about our expectations, and above all our hopes. Now I'll tell you about Square Enix as the company returns to the E3 stage with a showcase set for Monday 11 June at 19.00 pm (). The development house has confirmed that we will discover all the exciting future of the software house, but at the moment it is not yet clear whether the expected event will be “Nintendo Direct style” or something more complex. In any case, in this special we will talk about the games that will be present and / or that we would like to see in Los Angeles.
Kingdom Hearts III
The first on the list could only be Kingdom Hearts III. In development for several years, the final chapter of Nomura's epic is still in development. Several rumors have spoken of a September release, but the only certain thing at the moment is the release of one or even two trailers, this is because the title will be present - again according to some leaks - also at the Sony conference. To say that the expectations on the game are very high would be useless, if you want to find out more we refer you to our dedicated special.
Final Fantasy VII Remake
Great homecoming Square Enix regarding the seventh chapter of the final fantasy. The game has disappeared from the radar for a while, seeing it again on the E3 stage would be more than welcome. Some old rumors have spoken of a development in jeopardy, while others are more recent than a release scheduled for 2023. However, there are many doubts about the latter hypothesis, especially because it would not make sense to show on stage a product that could change again in 5 years. The dream would be to see the release period of the first episode as early as 2019, in any case also for Final Fantasy VII Remake we refer you to our dedicated article.
A new title from Yoko Taro
After the great success achieved by Never: Automata, it is normal to look forward to a new chapter in the universe born of Taro's mind. The adventures of the three androids are still well etched in my mind, which is why it wouldn't be too early to see something new. The second one NieR was superior to the first, especially for what concerns the technical sector, this would be the perfect time to take the next step, significantly increasing the value of production.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
While we still don't know anything about this title, it's always a pleasure to see the most famous heroine in video games in a new adventure. Maybe out of passion, maybe out of nostalgia, Lara Croft it is an evergreen that cannot be done without. That the title maintains the classic tones of the series or that most of the mechanics revolutions at the moment is not known, but we are sure that something new will emerge in the next few days.
Dragon Quest Builders II
Announced a few months ago and then completely disappeared from radar. The first Dragon Quest Builders it was pleasant and fun, and the local multiplayer sector was also included in the new chapter of the series, so you can also play with some friends comfortably at home. At the plot level, the title was certainly not full of originality, we therefore hope it will change something from the point of view of the management of the village, perhaps expanding the game from a management point of view or adding a greater number of secondary missions all different from each other.
Dragon Quest XI
Despite being released almost a year ago in Japan, relatively little information has circulated in Europe. Precisely for this reason and for the now next release date scheduled for September, we could see something new dedicated to Dragon Quest XI. The title was voted game of the year 2017 in the land of the rising sun, the return to consoles of a main chapter of the series undoubtedly attracts the attention of all, making users' expectations skyrocket.
The Avengers Project
Last special task for the new Avengers game. At the moment we know almost nothing about the title, except that Thor, Hulk, Iron Man and Captain America will be present. The video game will be disconnected from that of Spider-Man exclusively on PlayStation 4, even if Marvel has hinted at the desire to create a videogame universe like the one seen in the cinema. For more information on this topic, please refer to our dedicated editorial.
Final Fantasy VIII in digital
As happened for Final Fantsy IX, we hope to see the eighth chapter available in digital format as well. Considered by many to be one of the most beautiful episodes of the saga, reliving the adventures of Squall and his friends would be a blast from the past, in addition to the fact that it would dampen the expectation of Final Fantasy VII Remake.
Left Alive
The game is heavily inspired by Metal Gear. The title developed by Square Enix has, for now, kept a low profile as accompanied only by a short trailer. Thanks to the illustrious names who work in the production, the videogame could be one of the most beautiful surprises in view of E3 2018.
Project Octopath Traveler release date
Project Octopath Traveler is a classic turn-based RPG in development exclusively for Nintendo Switch. We have already told you about the game in our hands-on, and after the various trailers released in this period it seems that the official release date is almost upon us. The title will make you take on the role of different warriors intent on facing their destiny.
Hajime Tabata's new game
After the launch of Final Fantasy XV and subsequent DLCs Tabata has disappeared from the spotlight to devote himself to a new and mysterious project. With the help of his studio, the Game Director declared that the visual quality of the product will not differ much from the most modern films and that, in a certain sense, it will not be a real video game. Could it be more of a Detroit-style title? Only time will give us the answers.
Project Prelude Rune
Virtually nothing is known about this game, except for a single art work that sees an elf stroking a dragon. Despite this we also know that the development was assigned to Studio Istolia and that the Game Director of the project is Hideo Baba, former director and producer of the Tales of series.
These were all the games and expectations associated with the conference Square Enix of the now imminent E3. We hope not to be disappointed and to see some good ones!
