The 4 best PSP emulators for Android! (Updated 2019)

The Sony PSP is one of the longest-lasting portable gaming consoles ever. It has enjoyed a seven year run with various new models being released at regular intervals. It has a ton of games, and Sony has even brought some PlayStation games to this system for purchase.

Now you can play PSP games on your mobile or tablet. Here are the best PSP emulators for Android. We highly recommend starting with PPSSPP, but if that doesn't work, we still have three listed.

PPSSPP is by far the best of the PSP emulators. Of all the emulators we have tested, PPSSPP is the easiest to use, has the best compatibility, and the best performance. We won't blame you for anything if you think we're advertising it, because it's all truth.

PPSSPP gets frequent updates, has a paid version that removes ads, and is the one most other developers have copied from. We highly recommend that you try this emulator first. The free ad supported version works well if you want to try it. The $ 5,99 price removes the ads. The app is also open-source.

PSPlay is one of the newest PSP emulators. It features a ton of the usual elements, including save and load states, hardware controller support, and network playback capabilities. It worked with all the games we tried in our tests. However, there are far more games out there than we've had the time to test.

Occasionally you may find yourself playing a game with lag or sound problems. Some Google Play reviewers have found a few. However, this is an above average emulator that is completely free with no in-app purchases. There are announcements, though. Furthermore, it is based on the PPSSPP open source project.

Android emulators: what they are, tips and the best ones for Android

RetroArch is one of the most exclusive PSP emulators. It can actually emulate a ton of different game systems. RetroArch uses the Libretro system. It essentially runs plugins that act as emulators. So, RetroArch can do anything from SNES to PSP, as long as you have the required plugin.

The emulator seems to work fine, but like most there are compatibility issues here and there. There is also a learning curve as the system is quite complex. Even so, it's good to try and it's completely free and open source.

Rocket PSP Emulator

Rocket PSP Emulator is a medium quality emulator. It is relatively new, still has some bugs and its compatibility is great. It uses the PPSSPP open source project so that it has many of the same features. This includes save and load states, a software controller, and again, decent compatibility.

We had no problems during our tests. However, you may want to try something more mature or solid like PPSSPP. It is completely free with ads. There are a lot of PSP emulators like this one. You can search Google Play, throw a stone and find others like this one.
