The director of the first episodes of the Lord of the Rings series has been revealed

One of the series that the whole world, or almost, is waiting with trepidation is without a shadow of a doubt The Lord of the Rings. Since when Amazon has announced that it has purchased the rights to the Tolkienian work for the amount of about 250 million dollars, (assuming a total outlay between special effects, cast, and everything else equal to 1 billion), none of the actors have yet been revealed nor of the components that will create the work.

Only today we get to know the name of who will be directing the first two episodes that will make up the series, structured in 5 seasons and set in the Second Era; to direct what has been said will be Juan Antonio Bayona, known for filming Jurassic World 2: Fallen Kingdom and The Impossible, who will also appear as executive producer.

Here is a small statement from the Spanish director:

I can't wait to take viewers back to Middle-earth and let them discover the wonders of the Second Age, with a story never seen before.
