Fifa 11 - Tutorial: how to take free kicks

2) - LOW DIRECT SHOT
If you can see a corner of the goal not covered by the barrier, you can try to kick "straight to straight" trying to get the ball to pass low to the side of the barrier. 2) - HIGH DIRECT SHOT - EXAMPLE GOAL
It is similar to the low one but in this case we will not worry about the barrier because we will try to get the ball over it. As you can see in the example video the ball goes straight (with no effect to curve) and lowers near the goalkeeper
How to do it: aim (inside the door) at the corner furthest away from the goalkeeper, simultaneously press B + left analog stick up. Release B as soon as the power reaches more or less in the middle of the bar (depending on how far you are, try it out). The left analog stick is released as soon as the player hits the ball.

 

2) - EFFECT SHOOTING (TO TURN) - EXAMPLE GOAL
Unlike the two previous types of punishment, this time we will also be able to aim outside the goal, the ball in fact in this case will curve and go into the net thanks to the return effect. Here the "Curve" (effect) attribute of the player taking the free kick becomes very important. To successfully execute these free kicks you will need to use strong players in this regard, such as Sneijder, Cristiano Ronaldo or Van Persie. It is clear that it is possible to score even using less strong players than those just mentioned, but obviously the higher the attributes related to the player's placed kicks, the more likely you will be to score.
How to do it:
with a player kicking right, aim outside the goal with respect to the right corner of the same or aim at the opposite corner with respect to the point where the goalkeeper is placed (as in the example goal). Hold down RB and then simultaneously press B + left analog stick diagonally left-up. Release B as soon as the power reaches more or less in the middle of the bar (depending on how far you are, try it out). The left analog stick and the RB button are released as soon as the player hits the ball;
with the player kicking left, aim outside the goal from the left corner of the goal, hold down RB and then simultaneously press B + left analog stick diagonally right-up. Release B as soon as the power reaches more or less in the middle of the bar (depending on how far you are, try it out). PUNISHMENTS FROM 3/4

Kick this type of free kick when you need to hit the red area indicated in the following image:

1) - SHOOTING FROM LONG DISTANCE
This shot is identical in all respects to the DIRECT LOW SHOT discussed above. The difference is that you will be shooting it from much farther and consequently you will have to load the power bar much more (about 3/4 and even more) to get the ball up.
How to do it: aim (inside the door) at the corner furthest from the goalkeeper, hold LB and then simultaneously press B + left analog stick up. Release B as soon as the power reaches more or less 3/4 of the bar (depending on how far you are, do some tests). LB and the analog stick are released as soon as the player hits the ball.
